Camtasia Converter — Extract Video Course + Embedded Quiz
TechSmith Camtasia exports video courses as SCORM with the main `.mp4` file plus an XMP RDF metadata file (`<name>_config.xml`) containing the complete embedded quiz: `tscIQ:questions` array with text, correct-answer index, and all answer options. SCORM Converter's `CamtasiaParser` parses this XMP RDF and emits a structured quiz document — without needing video transcription.
Important note
Video transcription not included in extraction; quiz only.
Why export TechSmith Camtasia content?

CamtasiaParser — what we extract
XMP RDF parsing of `<name>_config.xml`
Video duration + frame size + locale metadata
Full `tscIQ:questions` extraction with `correctAnswer` index
Multi-answer support per question
LOM metadata extraction from manifest (title, description, keywords)
Technical details
File signature
<name>_config.xml with tscDM namespaceSCORM versions supported
SCORM 1.2
Typical package size
20-500 MB (video-heavy)
Implementation note
The video file itself is NOT transcribed (would require Whisper or Gemini Vision on video). The embedded quiz alone yields 500-1000 words of structured content per typical Camtasia learning module.

Frequently asked questions about TechSmith Camtasia
Will the Camtasia converter transcribe my video automatically?▼
Not yet. The current parser extracts metadata (duration, frame size, language) plus the embedded SCORM quiz (`tscIQ:questions` with correct-answer markers). Automatic video transcription is on our roadmap and will require enabling AI features in your account.
How does Camtasia store quiz questions in SCORM?▼
Camtasia embeds quizzes as XMP RDF metadata inside `<projectname>_config.xml`. The `tscIQ:questions` block contains every question, all answer options, and a `tscIQ:correctAnswer` index. Our parser walks this structure and extracts all quiz data without needing video processing.
Can I extract the video file from a Camtasia SCORM?▼
The MP4 video file is preserved unchanged in the ZIP. Our parser doesn't modify or strip the video. If you only want the video, extract the .zip with any standard archive tool. Our converter is focused on extracting the quiz + structural metadata.
Does Camtasia SCORM include closed captions / subtitles?▼
Camtasia can export with embedded captions in the video container or as a separate caption file. We preserve the caption file when present but don't extract its content as text yet — that's a future enhancement aligned with full video transcription.
How big are Camtasia SCORM packages typically?▼
Video-heavy. Typical Camtasia courses are 20-500 MB depending on video length and quality. Most of that is the MP4. The XMP metadata + quiz data is just a few KB. We accept Camtasia uploads up to 500 MB and process them in 10-30 seconds (quiz extraction is fast).
